Best Time to Visit

Best Time to Visit Rajasthan

Best time to visit Rajasthan is between October and February which is the winter season. July to September can also be an excellent time to visit as the mostly dry and arid state receives some amount of rainfall, but the humidity and the temperatures are mostly high. The state also experiences extremely high temperatures during the summer season which begin in March and last till June. Compared to the summers which are sweltering and dry, the temperature remains warm and pleasant throughout the day during winters which is the perfect time to explore all the palaces, temples, and forts. Also, the major fairs and festivals of Rajasthan are celebrated around this season. The nights during winters get very chilly, and one should avoid getting out during the nights.

Summer (April to June)
Summer months in Rajasthan are better avoided by travellers. The temperature goes up to 35-48°C on almost all days. Besides the burning heat, the state also experiences frequent dust storms all of which could leave travellers fatigued and ill. However, if you plan to visit Rajasthan in summers then hit places like Mount Abu, Kumbhalgarh or Ranakpur which stay relatively cooler. Summer months also have some interesting fairs and festivals like Mahaveerji Fair, Mount Abu Summer Festival, and Teej celebration. To enjoy the trip and avoid any health risks fill your bags with light cotton clothes, caps, scarves and lots of sunscreen. Stay hydrated and eat light but frequent meals.

Monsoon (July to September)
Monsoon, many would say, is a great time to visit Rajasthan. Temperatures drop and the rains make the state rather beautiful with green vegetation popping out in the desert terrain. Tourists can enjoy bird watching and witness the state's wildlife in Ranthambhore National Park, Sariska Tiger Reserve, Keoladeo Ghana National Park and Khichan Bird Sanctuary. July to September is a decent time to visit Rajasthan and we recommend places such as Bundi, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Mount Abu, and Udaipur.

Autumn / Winter (October to March)
Sun lounging during the winters is the best way to experience Rajasthan. Enjoy outdoor activities, cherish those exciting camel rides and elephant safaries, and make the most of the fairs and festivals. The freezing nights and evenings give you the chance to sit near campfires, savor local food and tune into regional music and tales of royal heroes under the star-studded sky. Even the famous Pushkar Mela is held every year in November. So plan your visit to Rajasthan anytime between November to February to make the most of your trip.
